The Blueberry Farm and Bakehouse
April 14th- After our stop at the refreshing river in Lower Hutt we travelled on to Upper Hutt where we visited an organic blueberry farm. What an amazing experience! We all had so much fun picking and eating the blueberries. Nana proved to be the best at finding the juiciest blueberries and Isaac was the most helpful in removing them from the bucket and into his little tummy. We actually filled an entire bucket full of berries, which seems like a relatively simple task, but it did take us about an hour to fill. We couldn't have chosen a better day to pick berries...it was relatively cool for most of the morning and then the sun came out. We made sure to stop at the bakehouse before we left where we all shared a fresh blueberry muffin and (in honor of Bapa) the most delicious warm chocolate brownie with homemade vanilla ice cream and warm blueberry sauce to top it all off!!! It was to die for---incredible. Visiting the Blueberry Farm was a definite high-light for all of us and we will make sure to visit the farm again next year without a doubt.
